مرسدس سوسا متولد 1935 در آرژانتین یکی از معروف‌ترین و محبوب‌ترین خواننده‌های امریکای جنوبی‌ست. او را به خاطر فعالیت‌های سیاسی‌اش در زمان دیکتاتوری در آرژانتین "صدای اکثریت ساکت" نامیده‌اند. سوسا در سال 2000 "جایزۀ گرَمی" را برای بهترین آلبوم فولکلور نصیب خود کرد.
مشهورترین ترانه‌اش "سپاس از زندگی" نام دارد.
